We have a colourful, cosy library run by our library-based teaching assistants Maria Smith (Monday and Tuesday afternoons) and Susan Young (Thursday and Friday afternoons). They supervise groups of children who can browse and borrow books, and stay in the library until 4pm on those days so that children can bring a parent along at the end of the day.
The library holds over 3,000 fiction and non-fiction books which reflect the interests of staff, pupils and librarians. Our school councillors kindly consult their fellow classmates about what new books they would like to see on the shelves and we try to keep the stock updated through generous donations, book fair commission and investment when possible.
As well as the fortnightly visits to the library, our Library Team, led by Mike Preedy, organise author visits and our annual World Book Day. In recent years, the children have enjoyed visits from Emma Carroll, illustrator Matt Jeanes and Maudie Smith who talked about their experiences and shared their work with the children.
