St. Stephen’s is a unique community, inspired by Christian values, prompting mutual respect, responsible behaviour and encouraging our core values of love, courage creativity and joy.

At St. Stephen’s Primary School our aim is to make the transition to school as easy as possible for the children and their parents. By the time children enter school at four years old most of them will have experienced a pre-school setting. They will have socialised with children and adults. Their experiences will be vast but different. They will have gained differing levels of independence in separation from their parents, as well as in their play.

We are aware that you know your child best so at the beginning of September your child will have a home visit from their teachers. This is an informal meeting where we can get to know you and your child and what their interests are. It also helps us to see what they are really like in their home environment. We also try to visit them at their pre-school when we can.

You can find our ‘Welcome to School’ brochure and the ‘New Parents Evening’ power point that we give during the summer term on this page. This is to inform the new parents about school life and what to expect when your child is in the EYFS. We hope these are useful documents for you and give you any information you may need prior to your child starting with us. Once your child has a place you will receive a letter explaining which class they are in and the starting school arrangements. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We look forward to meeting you and your child soon.
