For a summary of the outcome of our formal, public consultation in 2015/16 concerning our 2017/18 admission arrangements, please see here.

The Admission Authority has now determined (i.e. formally agreed) admission arrangements for September 2018. They have not changed from the previous year and a public consultation has not been required. These arrangements can be found below.

Admissions Code

As St Stephen’s is a Voluntary Aided Church of England School, the governors are the Admissions Authority. They comply with the School Admissions Code, a statutory code designed to ensure a fair and straightforward admissions system that promotes equity and fair access for all. An equal preference system is operated.

Admissions Procedure

Children are admitted into St Stephen’s School according to the school’s Admissions Policy.

Governors liaise with Bath and North East Somerset (BaNES) Local Authority (LA), who co-ordinate admission applications for all maintained schools in the BaNES area. All details about the procedures can be found on the LA website or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Appeals

Applicants who are unsuccessful in gaining a place have the legal right to appeal to the Governing Body. Details concerning how to appeal will be explained in the decision letter.
